DESCRIPTION:A kawandi is a utility quilt made by the African Diaspora/Siddi community of India.  Join Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild member Arita Rai who will share her knowledge of these quilts and lead this hand quilting workshop.  Find her on IG @arquilters.\nKawandis are created improvisationally with small scraps stitched from the outside toward the centre in such a way that you piece and quilt simultaneously.  In this workshop you will make a mini quilt incorporating the design elements of a traditional kawandi.  Creating these hand stitched quilts can be very relaxing and mediative so pack up your hand sewing tools and favourite scraps and join Arita for a creative and relaxing few hours.\nDate: Saturday October 21st, 2023\nTime: 12 noon – 4 pm\nLocation: Cordova Bay 55+ Association Big Room, 5238 Cordova Bay Road\nParking at CB55+ is at the front of the school accessed from Cordova Bay Road and also more parking at the side of the building, accessed off Sapphire Road.\nClick here to register\n \n
