10th Birthday Quilt Challenge

MQG Victoria has been creating, sharing, collaborating and giving for 10 whole years!!

Members are invited to join the celebration by participating in our 10th Birthday Quilt Challenge! We have come up with a theme and a few fun rules that we hope will spark your imagination and inspire you to join in:

Details:

Theme – TEN (…of course!)

Size – 20 inches wide by 23 inches long (…see what we did there…2023!)

Final Completion Date – September 21, 2023 – aka our 10th Birthday guild meeting!

Rules:

• Members wishing to participate will be provided with a fat eighth (10 inch x 22 inch) of the challenge fabric at no cost! Challenge fabric/sign up sheets will be available at guild meetings starting at February 16th.
• Quilt fronts must use a recognizable amount of the challenge fabric.  Other fabrics of your choice will make up the balance of the quilt.
• Quilts must have three layers (front, batting and backing) but after that ANY quilting technique/style you desire can be used – precision or improv pieced, appliquéd, machine and/or hand quilted…Let your imagination go wild!
• Edges must be finished with your choice of binding or facing.
• Must be labelled on the back with your name.
• Must have a 2″ hanging sleeve.
• It is understood that participants grant permission for MQG Victoria to keep their quilt until September 2024 to be included in a group exhibit representing MQG Victoria. Let’s wow Victoria with our best modern quilting!
• Shhhh! Please keep your project a secret from other guild members (it’s more fun that way!).
• Finished entries only will be revealed at the September 21, 2023 Birthday Bash guild meeting Show & Share.
