August meeting pictures: our new space, Jennifer Watson trunk show, and the usual!

Stacie welcomed us to our new space at the Royal Canadian Legion.

A few homey touches, like our guild bunting.

A keen crowd.

More folks!

This space is HUGE. With an elevator, and decent parking, and room to grow, and better lighting, and no ugly gold-with-tassles-valance-and-drape to upstage every picture, we like it already.

Kari, our ever faithful secretary and Heather, our indefatigable VP.

Natalie, our librarian.

 And show and share!

Darlene with a quilted room number for her classroom.

Barb’s quilt.

Small confession time: we wrote down the names of the folks who shared quilts but we’re not sure where one person’s quilts stops and the next person’s starts. We’ll give it our best shot.

Barb’s or Rosalie. And note the use of TWO different MQG challenge fabrics in this!

Barb? Rosalie?

Pretty sure this is Rosalie’s. What’s black and white and red all over? This quilt and a penguin with a sunburn.

Still Rosalie? Maybe Janelle? AWESOME HSTs though.

Janelle?

Janelle’s use of blue and orange and lots of triangles is excellent.
Ruth took a dying workshop at VISA.

Overdyed vintage table cloth.

Kate made this for a swap. Send it to my house Kate!

Back, with the label on the yellow and orange triangle.

Kate made this for the Pantone Greenery challenge but wound up cutting of the green bits because she hated them. The finished quilt looks pretty awesome.

Guest Terry showed this nearly done awesome HST rainbow goodness.

And a sweet vintage dresden plate.

Then we had a trunk show from our own Jennifer Watson. We all know her as one of the very best quilters for hire in town but she’s no slouch when it comes to her own stuff. And funny! She shared so many great stories about the quilts and her process.

This Sea Glass quilt is a pattern from Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr, and won a ribbon the first year the Victoria Quilters’ Guild show had a modern category.

Detail shot.

Jennifer used the scraps from the previous quilt to make this one.

Jennifer said about this one: “done is better than perfect, but you still have to like what you’ve done.”

A special quilt for a special girl in Jennifer’s life.

Jennifer quilts for her mom Patricia as well.

Patricia, also a member of our guild, is a master at appliqué.

A pattern which supports an elephant rescue society in Thailand.

A Charley Harper pattern.

This quilt was made with leftovers from the orange and grey quilt up above.

Made with some friends in a satellite group, originally shown at our January 2015 meeting.

Some MQG challenge fabric is in here!

back of the above quilt

Another big award winner for Jennifer. MQG challenge fabric again.

The most excellent (and frustrating!) quilting.

A few yet to be quilted works.

Thank you so much Jennifer for sharing your quilts and love of quilting with us. You have been a steadfast supporter of the guild since the beginning and we are lucky to have you.
