Block Lotto – June 2022

Arrowhead Puzzle

Unfinished size 10″

Dig into your scrap pile of your favourite colour to make this easy stash-buster block!  And…While you have all your scraps out why not make two or three? Tone-on-tones are great, but you can sneak a bit of odd colour in for added interest. Avoid white backgrounds because they will blend into the background squares, and keep your colour in the same tone (ie. all turquoise or all royal blue – see sample quilt photo below)

Fabrics:

White solid for background

8 different prints in one colour range

Cutting:

White solid:
  • Cut four 3″ squares and two rectangles 3″ x 5 1/2″
Assorted prints:
  • Cut 8 3″ squares
Sewing:
  1. Sew one print to each of the four 3″ squares
  2. Sew the remaining four print squares into two sets of two.
  3. Sew a white rectangle to the bottom of a white and print set with the print in the upper right. Repeat to make two four patches.
  4. Sew a white and print set to a print and print set with the white square in the upper left. Repeat to make two four patches.
  5. Refer to photo as to layout for four patches and sew together. Square to 10″
