This year we invite members to use one or any combination of these four traditional blocks and make them modern by using one or more of the characteristics of modern quilts.

- Bold use of Colour
- High contrast and graphic areas of colour
- Improvisational piecing
- Minimalism
- Maximalism
- Expansive negative space
- Alternate grid work
- Modern traditionalism

- Any size will do…make a full size quilt, make a wall hanging, make a mini or how about a mini series!
- Finishes will be revealed at the September 2025 MQGV meeting.
- Work does not need to be kept secret. Feel free to share your progress on social media or guild meetings.
- Work on your own or gather some friends and make it a group project!
- Try something new. Step out of your usual rut! This challenge is meant to be a teaching tool for becoming familiar with what makes a quilt modern.
