Monthly Meeting: Trunk Show with Liz Young from the Vancouver MQG

“How I Came to Love the Circle…and its’ evolution into my work”

Ahhh, the dreaded circle. The thought of sewing curves strikes fear into the hearts of many quilters. I was one of those quilters! This trunk show illustrates how facing your fear can take you to places you never imagined going.

My name is Liz Young. I am a multidisciplinary textile artist living in Vancouver. Although I have worked in many textile practices, my chosen medium for my art is quilting. My work is graphic, incorporating strong lines and bold curves, influenced by Bauhaus design and Orphism. I am drawn to the colours that Vancouver is known for…the grays of rainy winter days, the pops of colour as spring emerges, and the strong saturated colours of summer.
