Monthly Meeting – “What is the Judge Thinking?”

Our very own Rebecca McApline is going to help us demystify the world of quilt judging!

This informative presentation takes you into the mind of a Certified Canadian Quilters’ Association (CQA/ACC), Quilt Judge. While quilt shows vary in format and scale … local, agricultural, guild, Juried, National and International … the judging process remains largely the same. It is grounded in the evaluation of design elements and principles combined with an assessment of technical execution. What is the difference between being a Jury judge vs. final show judge? Let’s explore how judging occurs within the parameters of a given class eg. modern, traditional, art, abstract etc. Learn to see what the judge sees. Along with gaining some Tips n’ Tricks, you are sure to have light bulb moments that will add to your quilting journey and perhaps encourage you to enter a quilt into a judged show!

Rebecca is a Certified Quilt Judge with the Canadian Quilters Association (CQA/ACC). Her passion for life is expressed through her textile creations. Having worked and practiced in the textile arts for over 40 years, Rebecca brings to her craft a deep understanding and practical experience of multiple genres, creative styles and textile history.

We meet in the Cordova Bay 55+ Associations room, located within Cordova Bay Elementary school, at 5238 Cordova Bay Rd. The entrance is to the left of the main school doors.

If it’s your birthday month, feel free to bring along some goodies for the group.
