JUNE BLOCK LOTTO DIRECTIONS – FLOATING PLUS

This month with are “going dotty” with an easy Floating Plus sign block. It makes up quickly so you can get back to all your other fun outdoor activities like mowing the lawn and weeding the garden.

These are also super easy to make two at a time (you will find this when you cut out your background) so dig out your all your Polka Dots and get sewing!

Fabric A (Plus sign) – any polka dot fabric, but avoid those with white background

Fabric B (background) – white solid

Cutting –

Fabric A polka dots – one strip 2 1/2” X 18 1/2” and one 4 1/2” square

Fabric B white solid – one strip 2 1/2” X 18 1/2” and four 4 1/2” squares

Making the block –

Sew the two 2 1/2” X 18 1/2” strips together. Cut these into four pieces 4 1/2” long and press to the dark side. (I find it easier to cut the strip before it is pressed open, but that is up to you.)
Lay all the 4 1/2” squares you now have in three rows as shown in the photo and join each row together. Then join the rows together to make your block. It should measure 12 1/2” square.
