Pretty pictures from February meeting

Our February meeting was last week and another full house and fun time it was! Scroll down for all the pictures from the meeting.

It’s just about time for a bigger room – more details on that next month!
Rima (L) and Donna (R), and lots of other folks too!

In 2015 we are encouraging people to make the monthly block in colours of your choice to end up with a modern sampler quilt. Here are two examples (using the 2013-14 blocks) to get you started!

Stacie’s all solids, colour theory version.

And Nicole’s scrappy version.

What will your version look like?

The January “Circle of Friends” block lotto.
And the February broken heart appliqué block.

And show and share! Our members (and guests) make lovely quilts.

Paula’s paper pieced runner.

New member Bethany’s lap quilt for her very tall husband.

Bonnie’s sewing group had a challenge to use a non-modern floral fabric and Bonnie wanted to see what she could do to make it modern. Well done Bonnie!

Bonnie again with an HST quilt.

Check out the quilting Bonnie did herself!

Grace’s bed runner.

And the reverse of the bed runner.

Margaret had a challenging challenge from her sewing group: must have more than 300 pieces, and be miniature to boot. (We didn’t get a picture of the other mini she’s holding – sorry Margaret!)

This is the reverse of the above piece at original size.
Margaret kept shrinking it down!

Nicole’s “ugly christmas sweater quilt” made with ugly xmas fabrics.

And the most offensive, distasteful backing fabric possible!

Laura with a nifty tote she made. Pattern is by Pat Dykes, available at Sawyer’s.

Laura’s terrific quilt made with fabric that was a present from her daughter.

A great quilting design.

Chris S. showing a book tote she made. Chris made a few more, and we didn’t get a picture of the rest of them, but they looked a bit like this:

But more modern:

And a table topper for all the pouches, bags, and totes to rest on.

Bryan’s excellent use of colour in this runner.

Not a pieced back! but the inspiration for the colour pull.

Netta’s quilt for her eight year old. She used a perler beads (melty beads) pattern book to come up with the pattern.

Katherine’s randomly pieced quilt top, made so that her daughter could long-arm it.

And the quilting, done by a 3.5 year old!

Bev’s excellent use of plaid shirts.

And the back.

Another good use of shirts!

And the back.

Thanks everyone for sharing your lovely quilts with us. See you at the March 19th meeting!
