Sept. pictures! Show and share, birthday, ugly fabric challenge

Happy 3rd birthday MQG Victoria!! Congrats to all our members, past and present, our supporters, our speakers, and guests. Thanks for everything that has brought us to this point. Here’s to another great year for our guild!

Birthday caaaaaaake!

Block lotto for this past month.

L-R: Pat, Pam, and Kim. Cheers!

L-R: Kelly, Audrey, and Ruth.
Carol made this charming baby quilt.

Susan T. triangle baby quilt.

More triangles! Chris S?

Susan T combined 5″ charm squares with some of Elizabeth Hartman’s forest friends to make this sweet baby quilt. That’s Anne D on the right.

Margaret entered this charm square quilt at the Saanich Fair and took home a prize! Margaret also took home best of the Modern category with her quilt from the workshop with Marianne we did in the spring.

We love the value progression through this quilt made by new member Bea.

Laura with another lovely modern quilt.

Newest member Sharon S shared this lovely calm baby quilt.

And another baby quilt from Sharon S!

Mary had this crazy cool baby quilt.

Mary showed this lovely dress she made with fabric purchased from the 2015 destash sale. It was only 4$/m – thank you for selling this treasure!

Rosalie made this great table runner.

Sharon C made this bright beauty using charm squares but she saved the little waste triangles…

It turns out that waste triangles are perfect for a little zig zag border on another quilt!

The back of the Sharon’s quilt.

Pat L. helped her sister downsize and made this quilt for her sister using her sister’s fabric.
Marianne with a fabulous quilt as you go.

Back of Marianne’s quilt.

Marianne played with this raw edge appliquéd on a longarm. Great texture 😉

And Marianne is playing with leftover bits from other quilts to see what she comes up with.

Netta put this quilt in the Saanich Fair modern category and got a commendation for it.  It’s quilted with swirls on the left and straight lines on the right.
Natalie won the block lotto a couple of months ago and made this runner. She separated the blocks into prints and solids. This is the prints side.

And this is the solids side. Natalie quilted this on her new longarm!

Stacie went to NS in August and crashed the Maritime MQG meeting while there. They meet in a fabric store, just how we started!

Some pouches from somewhere.

Stacie LOVES her on-line swaps and this is what someone made for her.

Maureen’s favourite colour is turquoise and she was thrilled to win the block lotto!

And of course September brings our ugly fabric challenge. At our annual July meeting picnic members bring an ugly FQ or .5m to swap. You use the new-to-you fabric plus any four other fabrics to make something modern with it! Here are some of this year’s offerings:

After everyone voted at intermission we awarded Netta’s quilt a 25$ gift certificate to Gala Fabrics for this lovely quilt:

And Laura took second with a 20$ gift certificate to Capital Iron for her pouch and notebook cover!

Phew! Enjoy the weekend everyone and see you for our fabulous guest speaker and teacher Kathleen Riggins on October 20th.
