Show and Share – July and August 2022

July 2022

MQG Victoria members enjoyed our July meeting outdoors at Beaver Lake Park at our annual picnic.  It was a lovely event with games, quilty conversation and of course some great quilts to share.

Aina wowed us with her bright and colourful “in progress” EPP project.

Sherrlyn completed this lovely neutral set of placemats.

Susan shared this seaside themed baby/child’s blanket made in the row style.

Rosalie has been busy with no less than 4 improv style mini quilts!  Each one with it’s own unique colour and style.

August 2022

We were back at the Trafalgar/Pro Patria Legion for our August meeting and once again members brought along lovely quilts to share.

Natalie once again has come up with a spectacular example of modern quilt design.  She has plans of submitting this one for the 2023 MQG Modern X Exhibit celebrating the “Big MQG’s” tenth anniversary.

This fun quilt is a collaborative effort from “The Satellite Group”.  We love how they used the shape of the print as inspiration for quilting the solid squares.  This one is a charity quilts for Q̓ʷalayu House.

HST’s feature prominently in this adorable baby quilt Penny made for her great niece.

Penny has also been busy working on this lovely improv piece.

This composition Liz made was inspired by the 2022 Block of the Month Sew Along prompt “Stripes”.

The Sitka Denim Quilt is Dawna’s wonderful creation!  Made with repurposed jeans and thread then backed with micro chenille.  We love how the quilting shows up on the back and the label detail in bottom corner.  Dawna was honoured to have this quilt place second in “viewers choice” at our Black Sheep Quilt Shop showing.

The Mt Stekyaden Denim Quilt is another repurposed jean/thread quilt made by Dawna. It was gifted to her cousin and partner as this mountain is near where they live.  She backed it with Fireside and used flannel as the batting.
